Have a plate carrier, chest rig, backpack, or even a hat with some loop Velcro on it and wanna look cool? Need some help doing that? I’m here to help.
There are a lot of patch companies. A lot. If you’re like me your addiction to patches is not healthy for your wallet. But if you’re not like me and you just want a few neat patches that aren’t just your typical gear patches like many companies offer (which are still cool and are something I always purchase) then here are a few companies to get you started and to give you plenty of choices.
Task Force Doomer
What does the X mean? This is one of the most gucci brands you’re going to find. They may not be that expensive, but when you consider that they only drop patches twice a year and have some of the highest demand of any on the market, they easily climb into the number one spot for most sought after. With the some of the IR patches usually selling out in under a minute the odds of you getting exactly what you want are slim to none. I’ve been blessed with good drop luck twice and have managed to snag 3 of the patches from them. But many resign themselves to the fate of never getting the elusive X patch. This is a company that many will discuss with the phrase hated by many “If you know you know.” Follow them on Instagram to be let in on when a drop is going to be. If you go to their website somewhere around the time I publish this you may be able to get at least a little clout with one of the two stickers somehow still in stock after the last drop.
Antistate
While maybe not a cornerstone (pun intended) of the patch community as of right now, they have many very solid offerings for patches if you’re looking for more of the fall of civilization vibe. With the Cornerstone patch being the standard, there are lots and lots of other designs ranging from the basic that simply say ANTISTATE in bold letters across the patch, to plays on the “Join or Die” flag, to other more unique designs, they have many options that a lot of people will enjoy.
Badgerhound Supply
Badgerhound features the widest selection of patches out of any vendor on this list. They cover everything from modern politics to obscure inside jokes to little known history. They recently even released a series of Covid specific patches which I love. Many people will love the Killdozer patch (that currently has a home on my Haley Strategic Flatpack). Basically everyone will find a patch here that fits a niche that you love. One of my favorite companies to browse.
Dead Tyrant Society
A play on the classic movie, this company has limited stock on many patches, but when they are in stock they have some great offerings. Many members of the firearms community may appreciate the patches and stickers which recognize membership of the FengGang (owning a Baofeng radio). Others may enjoy the series of US Navy memorial patches commemorating 3 attacks on Navy vessels. I personally love their Hong Kong Patches. They also included a nice little hand written thank you in my order.
Expired State
They may not have many patch offerings at the moment, but they sure have captured the attention of many. Their KYLP series has gained a particularly strong following in the modern political and social climate. Another company that includes a nice little thank you note along with an offer to become pen pals. You can tell this is a great dude at the helm of this little company. When I ordered he combined two separate orders into one package which was very nice.
Goonin Gear Inc.

While this company primarily sells night vision and night vision accessories, their GOON patches have a similar following to the aforementioned Task Force Doomer patches. The drops for the patches as well as the hats are followed incredibly closely.
Zero Foxtrot
A company with a wide variety of patches as well as many other fun products. Their line of reflective patches are very cool and they have some nice patches with some fantastic movie references as seen above. Their takes on the tried and true patches of the firearms world are also very well done.
Moe Guns

A company I haven’t had the privilege to order from yet, but one I am very excited to order from in the future. Lots of entirely unique designs. Also the only company mentioned so far that offers patches in the ranger eye size. Nice for your patch panel hat or whatever other piece of gear you want the more miniature sized patch on. Prices are a little higher here than some of the others, so it’s ultimately up to you whether or not the patches are worth the cost.
Forward Observations

Another company with high priority drops, their few patch designs are all very cool and very sought after among certain groups. A solid company owned by veterans and with a great coffee table book. But ultimately their patch designs as well as their charitable donations are what makes this company special.
Ctrl Pew
Am I kinda cheating here? Maybe. Saint Pew himself, patron Saint of the 3d printing section of the firearms community, has a few very popular, very good patches. Take a look at their options. You’ve got everything from niche jokes to plays on the classic Gadsden flag. Run by a great dude and a fantastic member of the community.
Last Thoughts
These are just a few of the fantastic companies that offer some fantastic patches. Buy a few and you may very well start a solid addiction just like me. But no matter what, just about all of us have a spot to toss a couple and some of these people are definitely deserving of your business.
