So I somewhat recently posted a review of the Streamlight Protac Rail Mount 2 weapon light. I overall loved the light but one of the major knocks I gave it was lack of compatibility with other systems outside of the mount. While the head and body still have no aftermarket options, there is an option for the tail cap. Arisaka Defense offers an adapter for the Rail mount series which allows you to use certain Surefire scout tail caps and remotes.

This product does have it’s limitations, but for $38 you can have a much wider variety of options for tail caps and remote switches than the 2 that originally come with the light. I have not purchased this product yet so I cannot attest to it’s reliability or function, but it does boast a couple notable improvements over the traditional tail caps of the Streamlights. It holds a tighter fit on the battery solving a problem some have experienced where the battery will rattle within the body during fire making the light flicker. If you follow the link below the image above you will find the list of compatible tail caps and remotes. Others may work, but that is not something I can promise. I would imagine that any simple switch designed for the Surefire would work with this adapter and an appropriate tail cap. At some point in the near future I will hopefully purchase this along with some accessories to test the compatibility of this device.
